How much does plastering cost?
The cost of plastering can vary widely depending on several factors, including the size of the area to be plastered, the type of plaster used, the labor rates, and whether any repairs or preparation work is needed before plastering.
We can usually give an estimate if you are able to provide us with pictures and measurements but to provide an accurate quotation we generally need to check the condition of the area to be plastered and take our own measurements but don't worry our no-obligation quotes and initial consultations are free of charge.
Are you insured?
Yes, we have public liability insurance, providing you with true peace of mind while our team works on your property.
How long does it take for plastered walls and ceilings to dry?
It typically takes about 2 to 3 days for plastered surfaces to dry, depending on several factors such as the thickness of the application, the type of plaster used, humidity levels, and temperature conditions. Thicker layers may take longer to dry completely.
It's important to avoid drying it too quickly to avoid cracking as well as not rushing to paint or apply any finishes until the plaster is fully dry to ensure the best results.
What is the difference between plastering and skimming?
Plastering and skimming may be used interchangeably but generally speaking plastering is the application of a thick layer of plaster to walls or ceilings creating a base coat (or scratch coat) followed by a finishing coat, and it may be used to cover rough surfaces or to repair damaged walls.
Skimming refers specifically to applying a thin layer of finishing plaster over a previously plastered or painted surface. The purpose of skimming is to create a smooth, even finish that can be painted over. Skimming is typically done to refresh walls that have imperfections or to prepare a surface for a new decorative finish.
In summary, plastering usually involves a thicker application to create a new surface, while skimming is a lighter, finishing touch to smooth out an existing surface.
